Development and characterization of surface solid dispersion of curcumin for solubility enhancement

    Get PDF
Surface solid dispersion (SSD) of curcumin was developed and characterized with purview to overcome solubility hurdle in its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic performance. SSDs were prepared by co-evaporation method using polyplasdone XL, croscarmelose sodium, and silicone dioxide and polyethlene glycol 6000 as carrier. The optimized SSD (F9) was characterized using FE-SEM and XRD as an analytical tool. The formulation of modified Curcumin shows better drug release profile as compared to the natural Curcumin. Formulation F9 released more than 90% of the loaded Curcumin within 30 minutes where marketed formulations shows 90% drug only after 60 minutes. &nbsp

quTARANG: A python GPE solver to study turbulence in quantum systems

quTARANG is a Python-based general-purpose Gross-Pitaevskii Equation (GPE) solver. It can solve GPE in 1D, 2D and 3D and has the ability to run on both CPU and GPU. It has been developed to study turbulence in quantum systems, specifically in atomic Bose-Einstein condensates, and can be used to study different quantities, such as the varied spectra associated with quantum turbulence.Comment: 6 Pages, submitted to JOSS for publication, typos correcte

Brittle bone disease - A rare genetic disorder: A case report

    Get PDF
Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a group of rare inherited disorders of connective tissue with the hallmark of excessive fragility of bones caused by mutations in collagen characterized by remarkable soft and large cranium and short-curved limbs. Radiological findings, such as, under mineralization of skull, platyspondyly, severely short and deformed long bones, and small continuously beaded ribs, pathognomonic for OI, were observed. Considering the clinical/radiological manifestations, a diagnosis of OI was made

The use of carbonaceous nanomembrane filter for organic waste removal

Nanotechnology has great impact on the present scenario of wastewater treatment because of their particle size and surface area. Nanomaterials such as metals, metal oxide, low cast adsorbent, nanocatalyst, organic macromolecules composite, and other compounds such as natural organic matter, fullerenes, dendrimers, dyes, chitosan, enzyme, various shaped nanostructures such as nanorods, nanowires and nanotubes (both organic and inorganic) ultrathin films and nanomembrane are used in wastewater treatment. Nanotechnology is an advanced technology used for the cleanup of contaminated water by nanocatalysts, nanofilteration or membrane filtration, and the adsorption of pollutants via nanoscale materials. The use of carbonaceous nanomaterial membranes can serve as high capacity and selective sorbents for organic solutes in aqueous solutions, which can solve wastewater treatment problems. The present chapter initially describes the possible application areas of nanomaterials in wastewater treatment as well as its uses as nanomembrane filter
